Who is Ridgecrest?

The Ridgecrest Story

Reaching the lost, Building the believer, and Connecting the people of God to the mission and purpose of God since 1953.

Ridgecrest Baptist Church began as a vision in the hearts of the Missions' Committee of Dothan's First Baptist Church.

In 1951, several families met at a prayer gathering conducted in the home of James and Mary Morrison. The first meeting place for Bible Study and Worship was in a store building on South Cherokee Avenue and by 1953, the first service was held in a new building here on Fortner Street.
The Lord continues to bless Ridgecrest to this day! If you are looking for a church family you can count on, you've found the right place.

Ridgecrest is a large family of people from all different walks of life that have come together to worship and serve Jesus Christ.

From singles to seniors, toddlers to teenagers, Ridgecrest has something for everyone. Find out more about our ministries at the link below!

What We Believe

Worship

We believe worship is our response to God’s revelation of who He is and what He has done and that worship is our ministry priority. We believe the key to experiencing God is developing a lifestyle of worship.

We believe assembling together for corporate worship to be a command of God and important for the edification of the Christian.

We believe that personal time spent daily in fellowship with God, through the reading of His Word and communication through prayer, is a vital part of worship.

We believe God’s heart, His will, and His power are revealed in worship.

John 4:23 | Hebrews 10:25 | 2 Timothy 2:15 | Philippians 4:6

Discipleship

We believe every follower of Christ is called to live by faith in the Son of God and to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.

We believe every follower of Christ should seek daily to become more like Jesus in character, attitude, and actions.

We believe all of God’s Word is perfect truth and without error.

We believe that preaching and teaching the Word of God is central to reaching the lost and maturing believers.

We believe every follower of Christ becomes His disciple and actively involves themselves in the maturing of fellow disciples.

Galatians 2:20 | Colossians 3:9-10 | 2 Timothy 3:16-17 | Colossians 3:16 | 2 Timothy 2:2

Relationship

We believe our God-given mission is to help others establish a personal relationship with Jesus Christ because salvation is found in Christ, and Christ alone. It is an act of faith in the grace of Christ, apart from any works on our part.

We believe in the relevance of the Gospel message and are committed to using ever-changing methods to share this never-changing message.

We believe in sharing Christ with our community, our nation, and the world.  We do so through giving financially, going individually, and sending others.

Matthew 28:19-20 | Acts 1:8 | John 14:6 | Ephesians 2:8-9

Stewardship

We believe that every follower of Christ is a minister, called to serve the Lord by serving one another.

We believe God expects us to be faithful stewards of our time, our talents, and our treasures, first in this church, then locally, nationally, and internationally.

We believe in following a God-given vision for building and growing His kingdom.  Under His leadership, we will work and cooperate with other Christ-centered, Bible-believing organizations to advance His kingdom.

Matthew 20:26-28 | Ephesians 4:11-12 | Genesis 28:22 | 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 | Proverbs 29:18 | Malachi 3:10

Fellowship

We believe fellowship is a key to the health and life of our church.  Because people are of value to God, we value people.

We believe and desire that anyone who enters Ridgecrest Baptist Church for worship or ministry should feel welcome and accepted.

We believe commitment to Christ’s church is necessary and is expressed through church membership.

We believe commitment to Christ is encouraged by personal involvement within small-groups as well as congregational ministry opportunities.
