According to Youthministry.com and other sources is the average time that a youth minister stays at a church today. It is a highly unusual thing to keep a student pastor for a long tenure. But Ridgecrest has been blessed with 7 years of excellent ministry by Lloyd Blank! He and we, you might say have blown the averages away. Recently Lloyd shared with me that God’s calling and timing had come in the form of his accepting a call to be the Student Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Wylie, TX in the Dallas Metroplex area. I am so grateful for the ministry that he and Stephania have had at Ridgecrest, our community and among our students. I know that they will need our prayers as they move to a bigger area, a larger congregation and an expanded ministry opportunity. Below is a copy of Lloyds letter of resignation which I thought you would appreciate…
“Dear Pastor & RBC family,
I recently read that the Biblical definition of success is really one of significance - the significant difference our lives make in the lives of others. This significance doesn't show up in win-loss records, long resumes, or large bank accounts. It's found in the hearts and lives of those we've come across who are in some way better because of the way we lived. I love this definition. I hope it accurately describes my ministry here at Ridgecrest Baptist Church - one of significance. I truly hope that lives have been changed and impacted for the Kingdom because of what God has done over the last 6 plus years as I have served here as Student Pastor.
Nearly seven years ago I was absolutely certain that God was calling me to Ridgecrest Baptist Church to be the Student Pastor. Just as I was certain then that He was calling me here, I am certain now that He is calling me away.
I am resigning my position of Student Pastor at Ridgecrest Baptist Church effective August 23rd 2015, in order to accept the position of Student Pastor at First Baptist Church Wylie TX.
I greatly appreciate the opportunity to serve our Lord and Savior here at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, we will leave with many found memories and lasting friendship. You will continue to be in my prayers as I ask you to remember me and my family in yours. I am forever grateful to our Lord in allowing us to serve here, Ridgecrest will always have a very special place in our heart.
For His Glory,
Thanks Lloyd… for your service to the RBC family! And with his departure to a new call, remember that God has also prepared another to come and fill the ministry vacancy. I have, and do believe that when God calls a servant from one place to another, He has already prepared the next servant to join us. You can be certain that we will seek that servant out for the ongoing work of God at Ridgecrest.
God has been good to us in that regard through the years and we can look forward to more of the same. Paul said it best in 2 Corinthians 2:14… But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.
Remember tonight Awesome August continues… Dr. Johnny Hunt will be our Awesome August guest this evening at 6:00 PM, Johnny is one of the choice preachers of our day. And tomorrow night at 6:30 PM our Choir and Orchestra will present “A Night of Praise.” Two evenings you do not want to miss! And remember, God is always trying to take us someplace new. I love being your pastor!!!!
For God’s Glory Alone,
