5 Ways To Improve Your Spiritual Hearing Pt. 2…
Last week I gave you the first 2 keys to aid in your Spiritual hearing, today let me add 3 more. Jesus said on numerous occasions like Mark 4:23 “If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.”” Each time Jesus makes the statement He is reminding us that there is more to hearing than just listening! Jesus longs to communicate with you so that your fellowship will be sweet, your relationship will be strong and your walk with God will be right. And that leads to the third key to hearing:
- Get Obedient… Implied in the truth of God speaking to us and us hearing is the expectation of acting on what God says. James tells us that hearing God involves doing. “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.” (James 1:22–23) God does not waste a single word, so He certainly will not continue to speak to those who do not obey what He has already said.
If you want to improve your spiritual hearing, answer this question… ”Am I obeying what God has already revealed in His Word to me and to my heart?” If the answer is no, start there, get obedient.
- Get Surrendered… Submit to the leadership and Lordship of Christ. That
meansbring everything under the rule of Christ, everything! Peter instructs us, “but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts…”
(1 Peter 3:15)
If you want to improve your spiritual hearing, answer this question… “How much of my life is actually under Christ control?” Your answer will tell you where you need to surrender. The more surrendered you are, the clearer His voice becomes.
- Get Serious… God said in Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” And in 2 Chronicles 15:2 God says, “…The Lord is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.” The message is clear all through scripture, God wants to talk to us, but He wants us to demonstrate our serious desire to hear Him by seeking Him with all our heart.
If you want to improve your spiritual hearing, answer this question… “Am I seriously and intensely seeking the voice of God for my life?”… If your answer is no, when will you change? This is your responsibility and He is waiting to be “found” by you.
I hope these 5 keys will provide both inspiration and motivation to your greater pursuit of hearing and knowing God. They work, but they are only as good as their application to your life.

Foundations… A special Sunday evening message series on who we are as God’s people at RBC and what God’s purpose is, began last Sunday and will continue this evening. The format is different and interactive, I wish all our family could be here for the “foundational” series. And remember, God is always trying to take us someplace new. I love being your Pastor!
