7 Months, Many Prayers and…
many interviews have lead us to the man we believe to be God’s man for our student ministry! As I told you before, my commitment was to seek God and not settle for someone, but find the right person that God had for us. So, here is some information to help you get ready to welcome him and his wife to our Ridgecrest family. On Saturday, next weekend, March 5 at 6:00 PM in the fellowship hall we will host a reception with light appetizers. The meeting is open to all interested, but especially to our students and parents. It will be a chance for you to meet our new Youth Pastor to be and his wife. I hope you will plan to join us. Then on Sunday March 6, our church will hear a recommendation from our staff committee and then vote to officially affirm, call and bring him on board. Bye the way, I am purposely not using his name because he has not informed his current church or students and we want to make sure that we protect his confidence and allow him to share the news at his current place of ministry in his own time and way.
He has a wonderfully strong student ministry where he is and I believe will fit very well in the work of God at RBC. If all goes well, he and his wife will relocate and begin their ministry with us on March 20th! I am looking forward to it and I know that you are as well.
Let me brag on you—both students and parents. You have been so patient and supportive of this process even though you probably wondered if we were seriously seeking a man. Indeed we were, and your patience actually enabled us to take time and seek God. So thank you! Thanks also to Jonathan Blair and David Oswalt who helped keep the student work alive. These guys gave extra time and energy in ministry to make sure our student ministry didn’t suffer greatly. I appreciate them for going the extra mile… be sure to tell them thank you when you get the chance.
Calling all Couples. Remember this coming weekend is our annual couples retreat at Lakepoint Resort in Eufaula. If you have not yet signed up you can do so in the Welcome Center… we already have a score of couples going and would love to have you along. Last year was a great time of refreshment, great food (Seafood Buffett on Friday evening, meals are included) and wonderful fellowship—playing games, sitting around talking, getting in God’s Word, eating together and relaxing. Alison and I so look forward to it and hope you will join us.
Today, I’ll preach the outline that I did not get to last week… How Does God Grow you personally through Vision. God really does have plans for you and those plans change your life. And because that is true, God is always trying to take you someplace new. I love being your Pastor!!!!
For God’s Glory Alone,
