ALL IN for a Great Day of Dedication…
Next week we will conclude the 3 special Sundays we’ve been engaged in regarding our refurbished worship center. The first of course was, “A Great Day of Consecration.” The second was “A Great Day of Celebration” as we had our first Sunday in the new facility. And next Sunday will culminate our entry with “A Great Day of Dedication” in which we will dedicate our worship center
Joining us here next week will be several special guests, some former Pastors, city officials and charter members among others, as we dedicate the House of God. We’ve prepared a commemorative booklet and all of us will participate in the creation of a lasting reminder of God’s work in the past, in our present and in the days ahead. It will be beautiful when completed and placed prominently in our facilities to serve as a constant reminder of our God blessed heritage and our God given mission.
Some months ago, before we engaged in this project, I told you that after entering the refurbished worship center, we would do exactly what God’s people did when they refurbished the temple, bring a sacrificial offering to offset the cost of restoring the worship center. The Bible says that after they dedicated the refurbished temple, “And I weighed out to them the silver and the gold and the vessels, the offering for the house of our God that the king and his counselors and his lords and all Israel there present had offered. I weighed out into their hand 650 talents of silver, and silver vessels worth 200 talents, and 100 talents of gold, 20 bowls of gold worth 1,000 darics, and two vessels of fine bright bronze as precious as gold. And I said to them, “You are holy to the Lord, and the vessels are holy, and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering to the Lord, the God of your fathers.” (Ezra 8:25-28)
Next week, we’ll do the same thing as they, as part of our dedication. We’ve already paid half of the cost
Speaking of Sacrifices… let me thank you for your generosity and response to the need I put before you this past Monday evening during Awesome August regarding one of our mission partners, Northeastern Baptist College. You met the need and more before we even left the building. You always do! Thank you. We will use the extra you gave for world missions and disaster relief efforts. Speaking of which, some of you have asked how you can help. You can go on our website and we have a link to our Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Agency (the 2nd largest in the world). Second, you can pray for our disaster relief team that is on standby to head to south Texas.
God is at work here! You can see it and you can sense it. And that is because God always blesses obedience… let’s keep obeying and let’s enjoy the journey with our great God. And remember, God is always trying to take us someplace new. I love being your Pastor!!!!
For God’s Glory Alone,
