Endurance brings the Promise…

    Endurance brings the Promise…

Wouldn’t it be great if we could reap the Harvest of God without the hassle of sowing? Wouldn’t it be great if we could receive the Promise of God without the process of obedience to His Word? It might be easier on us physically, emotionally and mentally. But it would not lead us to trust God and it would not develop our soul. So, it doesn’t work that way. Instead, God takes us on a journey of the highlands and sometimes the lowlands to build our spiritual legs and develop our spiritual stamina. And like a marathon runner in training, it requires Endurance! But it is worth it because God’s course always leads to God’s prize and His Promise. That is why your endurance for God is so valuable for your life, and for His Church. Listen to these words from the writer of Hebrews… “For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.” (Hebrews 10:36)

As I write this article, I’ve been studying from scripture this word “endurance.” It has captivated my heart and mind with its importance and association with the will of God. And despite what we often presume, endurance is not an age-related spiritual practice, meaning that the older you get, the more you must endure. No, instead it is a discipline unrelated to the stage of our lives and specifically related to our response to whatever God has revealed and the subsequent promise He attaches to that revelation. That is why the Bible is full of scriptures that counsel and coach us to endure for the benefit of our soul and the blessing of God’s promises.

I hope that you are living your life out of the Word of God and out of a Word from God with endurance because endurance with God is the pathway to His Promises. As the scripture says in Hebrews 12:1,2, 3… “..let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,”… “looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross”… Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

So today, if you are discouraged, endure. If you are on the hilltop, endure. If you are in the desert, endure. And if you are lost in the wilderness right now, recalibrate your soul toward Him and endure for the sake of His promise to you.

Speaking of endurance… you have graciously waited for the report and recommendation of our Greater Glory Committee. And next Sunday we will gather in one service for another historic event in God’s journey for Ridgecrest. I know you are ready, I am ready and our committee is ready to present to you the next step in the God-given work He has entrusted to Ridgecrest for over 60 years. We’ll meet in one service on Sunday morning March 5th (8:45 Bible Study; 10:00 AM worship) to hear the committee’s report and recommendation. We’ll follow that with a Sunday evening Q & A session at 6:00 PM and then we’ll vote by ballot without discussion on Sunday morning March 12th.

Let’s go forward Ridgecrest and remember, the journey never ends because God is always trying to take us someplace new for His Greater Glory. I love being your Pastor!!!

    For God’s Glory Alone,

    Bro. Ray
