    Fight Back…

A November Yahoo News article by Rod McGuirk, entitled, "Novice surfer masters a pro move: Punching a shark to escape" proved that for one man, watching a YouTube video was a lifesaver! For British doctor Charlie Fry, it taught him how to survive a life-threatening shark attack. According to the article, Fry, a beginner surfer, found himself blindsided by a shark on a recent vacation to Australia and did exactly what he saw pro surfer Mick Fanning teach in a YouTube video-punch the shark square on the nose. "I thought it was a friend goofing around. I turned, and I saw this shark come out of the water and breach its head," he said. "So I just punched it in the face with my left hand and then managed to scramble back on my board, shout at my friends and luckily a wave came, so I just sort of surfed the wave in."  Fry said afterward that he didn't even notice until he got to shore that his arm was punctured and bleeding. "I didn't really notice it at the time because when you're surfing, all I'm thinking was: 'I'm about to die. I'm literally about to die,'" he said. The good news is, thanks to quick thinking and a YouTube video, the new surfer's injuries were not serious, and he'll live to surf another wave.

Likewise, in the spiritual world, the enemy of our soul is always lurking and looking to make a sneak attack on us. Consequently, we must be learned in the Word of God, protected by the armor of God (Eph. 6) and ready to resist the devil’s assaults. James 4:7 tells us to fight back!…“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Always remember that you are in a war, a spiritual war, that cannot be won without resisting the enemy.

Honduras Team… A team of four left yesterday and will be working all week with our Ken Nelson and BMDMI in Honduras. BMDMI is one of our 5 mission partnerships. Here are 3 things you can be praying for our team:

    1. Safety in travel during their stay and in their return.
    2. Presence of God upon all of their work.
    3. Transformation of lives during their mission.

Like “Arnold” said, I’ll be Back… tonight, and I hope you will be as well. I’ve been away at my 40th high school reunion this weekend and I feel old! But I’ll be here tonight to hear a very special guest. Charlie Ward the former Florida State Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback and NBA all-star will speak in our evening service. It’s a part of another mission partner area emphasis. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is sponsoring the event. I am proud of Mike Phares the area director of FCA. He is doing a fantastic job with student-athletes in the Wiregrass area. He, his wife Karla and sons, Carter, Hunter, and Tyler are dedicated members of Ridgecrest.

Thanks, James Oney… for filling the pulpit this morning. We have such an outstanding staff team with several good communicators of God’s Word. I am proud of them and know you will be blessed by the Word this morning. And remember, God is always trying to take you someplace new. I love being your Pastor!

    Make God First,

    Bro. Ray
