Gifted on Purpose…
Indian evangelist of the past century, Sadhu Sundar Singh said, "Fish which always live in the depths of the ocean lose some of their faculties, like the Tibetan hermits who always live in the dark. The ostrich loses his power of flying because he does not use his wings. Therefore, do not bury the gifts and talents which have been given to you, but use them, that you may enter into the joy of your Lord."
All of us have talents given by God and given to serve God!
Further, our fulfillment is discovered and maximized as we deploy our talents and spiritual gifts. Your design, your personality, your abilities and, if you are a Christian, your supernaturally given spiritual gifts are all from God and they equip you to honor God and carry out the purpose for which He placed you on earth. To neglect them, ignore them or try and change them will bring frustration and confusion.
You are not meant to be a copycat. Billy Graham said, “Some people have a warped idea of living the Christian life. Seeing talented, successful Christians, they attempt to imitate them. For them, the grass on the other side of the fence is always greener. But when they discover that their own gifts are different or their contributions are more modest (or even invisible), they collapse in discouragement and overlook genuine opportunities that are open to them.” The fact is, you are a bona fide original. Your gifts and talents are not to be compared with others, but rather cultivated and employed for God. So, develop them under the Lordship of Christ. Ask Him to help you use them and then look for ways at work, at home, at church and everywhere in between where you can honor God by using your gifts and talents for His glory.
My Message today… is on that very subject. It’s another Spiritual Life Management message from God’s Word designed to help you Make God First in your life in 2018.

We Continue… to make our campus secure with security tweaks and procedures. This matter has become so significant that there are now national and local seminars specifically designed to help churches in this area. I never imagined early in my ministry that such things would even be required of us. But, it is what it is, and I thank the Lord that we’re being proactive and not reactive, and we have been on the front end of this necessity for several years. And yet, I know that some of the new and additional procedures might be a bit inconvenient at times, and please know that I regret it is that way. But, be assured that we are following the instructions of security experts (we actually have several in our congregation) in order to make our campus a place open to all, but safe for our gatherings. Please do not take things like not allowing “backpacks” in the auditorium or other tweaks personally, they are not, but rather, now, exist for the well-being of our entire church family. Thank you for understanding and thanks for your cooperation in these things as we make our Church a secure and comfortable place to worship God. I love you and I want us worshipping together for a long, long time.
Prove the Tithe… our annual New Year emphasis will be on Sunday, February 4th this year. As you know, this is not extra offering day. It is instead a day where I ask everyone to tithe, which is the biblical command. If you’ve never tithed, it’s an opportunity to start and watch how God blesses His promise. If you are a tither, be sure and do your best to give your tithe on that day. And remember, God is always trying to take you someplace new. I love being your Pastor!
