God Loves You…
I read that one day, C.H. Spurgeon was walking through the English countryside with a friend. As they strolled along, the evangelist noticed a barn with a weathervane on its roof. At the top of the vane were these words: GOD IS LOVE. Spurgeon remarked to his companion that he thought this was a rather inappropriate place for such a message. "Weathervanes are changeable," he said, "but God’s love is constant." "I don’t agree with you about those words, Charles," replied his friend. "You misunderstood the meaning. That sign is indicating a truth: Regardless of which way the wind blows, God is love."
It’s like being a grandfather… we love both of our grandsons unconditionally. They may not realize it yet; and that doesn’t matter to us because we love them regardless, and they don’t have to do a thing to make us love them anymore and they can’t cause us to love them any less! We love telling them that we love them and showing them that we love them! And they know that they are loved.
That is the way it is with God—do you know how much God loves you? He loves you and it’s a fact! And the Bible says that He demonstrated how much He loves you. “For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:7–8) What an incredible fact. God’s love for you is not conditioned on your goodness or lack thereof. It is unconditional and unmerited! You don’t have to do anything to earn it, just accept it. “In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (1 John 4:10) and, “…to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,” (John 1:12) Have you received the one who loved you and gave Himself up for you? If not, don’t delay, do so today!
Since you brought up our grandkids???? Alison and I are away this weekend celebrating Bodie’s third birthday. In the meantime, listen and respond prayerfully to the message that you will hear from Chuck today. As I have said many times, I am so grateful for you and our staff team who are skilled and capable of filling-in when needed.
A Letter of Thanks to the RBC family from Bro. Tim…
“I want to thank you for the special gift given honoring Wanda and me in recognition of our 40th year of ministry here at Ridgecrest Baptist Church. It has been such a privilege to have worshipped God and served Him along-side each of you throughout these years. You have been of great encouragement and blessing to me and my family and your kind expression will never be forgotten. In His Love, Bro. Tim.”
Thank you, Tim!
Don’t forget that RAD begins a new semester tonight at 5 PM. You can still sign up in the Welcome Center. And remember, God is always trying to take us someplace new. I love being your Pastor!
