MAY IS SERVE MONTH…

All during this month we will emphasize serving the Kingdom of God by volunteering to serve Him through our church. It is exciting to see so many people returning to our campus each week. Connection/Sunday School groups have reignited, our worship is back to its two distinctive gatherings and our other ministries are emerging. With our Reigniting comes the need for Reconnecting and Recommitting.

As I preached recently, the Church of Jesus Christ and our local expression of His Church is to be His Body. A body composed of many parts. There was an old Wendy’s commercial years ago where the characters asked about the composition of a chicken sandwich offered by a competitor… they said it is made up of chicken parts, to which one of the characters replied, doesn’t matter, “parts is parts!” Well, the fact is, in the body of Christ it does matter about the parts because parts are not just parts. God has made us to be different and specific parts that are all necessary in order for His Church to function effectively for His Kingdom.

So, you are a special part in the body of Christ called Ridgecrest! Here is how Paul describes it… “For the body does not consist of one member but of many… But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, yet one body… If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.” (1 Corinthians 12:14; 18-20; 26-27)

All that is said in order to say… we need you to fill your place of service in the body of Christ. Maybe you’ve never served in any capacity, maybe it’s been a long time since you served, or maybe over the past year there has been little opportunity to serve. During this month I want to ask you to find a place of service in the body/church and help us carry on with excellence the work of our Savior. You will see information all around our campus that lets you know how to sign up for service… you’ll also be hearing about it in our media, from the pulpit and in our worship folders… Would you pray, and then respond… we can use your help in music and worship ministry, children’s ministry, hospitality/greeters, coffee bar, Connection/Sunday School groups, student ministry, television, media just to name a few. A healthy body/church is a church whose parts are functioning in their places. Will you join the call to serve?

Ridgecrest Christian Academy… Is moving forward. We already have students enrolled and are making all the necessary arrangements for our first classes in the fall. Here is how you can help us get there… the startup cost for 2 classrooms will be approximately $7,500 each. Here is the breakdown cost for one class:

  • Cubbies - $1,500 - Need 3 sets at $500 each
  • Desk - $2,625 - $175 each and need 15 max per classroom (price reflects buying 30)
  • Teacher’s Desk  - $500
  • Locking Cabinet - $350
  • Teacher laptop - $2,000
  • Extra Supplies for classroom - $500

Would you consider giving (above your tithes) to this startup… maybe you could purchase a desk or cubbies or any items or partial items… or even better, perhaps several will join together and simply fund an entire room? We are going to do it all with excellence for sake of the children and for the glory of God. And remember, God is always trying to take us someplace new. I love being your Pastor!

For God’s Glory Alone,

Bro. Ray
