"For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith." Romans 1:17

Today's Devotion

Righteousness refers to our being in right standing with God. Because of our sin, we could never earn God’s favor. However, Jesus lived a perfectly righteous life, and those who trust in Him are credited with Jesus’s righteousness. The “righteous” in this verse refers to all people who have trusted in Christ for salvation. And if this applies to us, it will be proven in the ways we live. People who have been forgiven of sin will live, as Paul says, “by faith.” God’s people will live in obedience to Him, specifically in regard
to sharing the gospel. If Jesus has changed our lives, we will naturally want others to experience those same blessings. Let’s never be ashamed of the message of Jesus. Instead, let’s commit to sharing the good news so that our friends and neighbors will know God’s blessings.

Questions For Reflection

  • Why can we never be righteous? Why does God see us as righteous anyway?
  • What is the connection between righteousness and sharing the gospel?
