Scripture teaches that there is no one righteous apart from Jesus (Rom. 3:10). James wasn’t talking about our being technically perfect or righteous. Instead, he was talking about the patterns of our lives. For those who love God and who are devoted wholeheartedly to Him, He hears our prayers. Further, we can know that these prayers make a powerful difference. Because of this, one of the most loving things we can do for those we care about is pray for them. When we see others who are dealing with difficult circumstances, one of our first responses should be to pray knowing that God hears and responds.
