#036: Idolizing Sports
This week on The Journey, college football is back so we discussed how easily sports can become an idol in our lives. It’s easy to allow it to affect our moods, our schedules, and our priorities. We talk about the importance of keeping our passion for sports in perspective and not allowing it to overshadow our spiritual lives or relationships.
Takeaways:
Recognize when sports become an idol: Be aware of how much your mood and behavior are influenced by game outcomes or how often sports take precedence over other important aspects of life, including faith and family.
Maintain perspective: Remember that while sports can be enjoyable and even teach valuable lessons, they should not be the most important thing in our lives. Our relationship with God and our families should always come first.
Use sports as a tool for growth: Sports can teach valuable lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and handling both victory and defeat. We can use these experiences to grow in our faith and character.
