#080 The Great Commission Does Not Change feat. Dustin Lee

This week on The Journey, we were joined by Dustin Lee as we explored the reality that faithful, mission-driven Christianity is not confined to a church building, a pastoral title, or a specific city. Drawing from his experience planting City View Church in Atlanta, Dustin walked us through what it looks like to pursue incarnational ministry, trusting God deeply, simplifying what we do, and making disciples in our normal rhythms of life. The conversation challenged us to examine whether we are truly living on mission or whether we have quietly turned inward without realizing it.

1. The Great Commission does not change based on your location or vocation. As Dustin said plainly, "I think you can do anything anywhere and make disciples." Wherever God has placed you to live, work, study, and play, that is your mission field. The call to make disciples is not reserved for pastors or overseas missionaries. It belongs to every follower of Jesus.

2. You never graduate beyond the gospel, and knowledge does not equal maturity. Dustin reminded us that the answer to our spiritual struggles is rarely another Bible study. It is doing what we already know the Bible says. Depth and maturity are not measured by how much we know, but by how faithfully we obey what we already know.

3. If you are too busy for people, you are too busy. Dustin shared that City View Church grows around the dinner table. The simple, consistent practice of inviting people into your life, sharing a meal, walking alongside someone, is not a program. It is the heartbeat of the New Testament church. Do not just invite people to church. Invite them into your life.
