Live By Faith, Not By Sight
“For we walk by faith, not by sight…” 2 Corinthians 5:7
Paul’s challenge to the Corinthians is a call to trust God’s eternal plan even when your circumstances make it difficult. To continue trusting him when things are tough requires you to constantly lean on his character and trust his unfailing promises regardless of your circumstances.
We’ve been talking about the unique power of using your personal story to share Christ with others. Your story is uniquely powerful because it’s personal; it can’t be disputed! But walking by faith and not by sight is also a uniquely powerful factor in the development of your story. What do I mean?
Well, the fact that you struggle personally with faith means that you’ll be able to connect your story to someone else who struggles with faith. The more you struggle, the more you’re required to walk by faith and not by sight. The more you walk by faith and not by sight, the more your faith grows! It’s a constant cycle and I think God designed it this way on purpose.
Take some time today to think about your own faith. Are there any particularly difficult struggles with faith that come to mind? Maybe your faith was tested during a personal health scare or the medical emergency of a family member. Maybe you were laid off at work and didn’t know how you’d be able to keep putting food on the table for your family.
Think about how the Lord ultimately revealed His presence and faithfulness to you even when you were at your wits end. Maybe you’re in the middle of one of these seasons right now.
Wherever you find yourself, know this: God loves you and he will never leave you or forsake you. Ask Him to help you walk by faith and not by sight today.
