There's Still Hope In Washington

Recently Alison and I had lunch with one of our congressmen and his wife. Our meeting was delightful with no agenda, just an opportunity to meet and converse over a meal. Now, through the years I have met with many political leaders, including governors, senators, congressional representatives, and numerous other elected officials, so this was not a new thing for me. But this meeting was different, it was impressive. And it went on for two hours. We talked about family, we talked about sports, we talked about national concerns, but mostly we talked about spiritual things, not political things… but spiritual things!

The congressman shared about his personal walk with God, how God broke him and rebuilt him, about his personal time in God’s Word and God’s speaking to him in prayer. His wife also shared about the powerful work of the Holy Spirit in her life, praise and worship, and about ministering to other women in Washington. They shared a few behind the scenes stories of incredible things that God has done that you’ll never hear about in the news. We agreed that neither of us have ever seen our nation in such a perilous time and in such desperate need of cultural and moral renewal, repentance, and revival. When we finally left, we all agreed to pray for one another as we face the darkness of the age and bring the light of Jesus Christ to this broken culture.

Washington is broken and it is not going to be fixed by any political party. There is corruption on an unprecedented scale. But there remains a remnant of Spirit-filled “Daniels” who continue to seek God and stand on Biblical truth… These deserve our prayers to enable them to stand faithful, impact their fellow colleagues, and subsequently make a difference in those who lead our nation… Why is this important? While policy and platforms matter, it still remains that changed lives are the greatest key to changing a nation. And this means there is still hope in Washington. Hope that God will do in lives, what no individual can do with laws alone.

Man Church Celebration

Women's Night of Worship

Our Women’s Ministry will host a special night of worship on Sunday, September 17th at 5:00 PM.

RAD

Ridgecrest Academy of Discipleship will reengage on Sunday, September 24th from 5:00 to 6:00 PM… Be sure to stop by the RAD registration table in the Welcome Center and sign up for one of the many courses being offered, or check things out here on our website.

This coming Sunday we enjoy the combined fellowship of both our blended and contemporary services. We have a big family of believers and it’s fun to periodically get everyone together for outstanding praise, worship, and a message from God’s Word. We’ll continue in James and talk about the difference between your trials and your temptations. Listen carefully and ask the Lord to speak into your heart.

And remember, God is always trying to take us someplace new.

I love being your Pastor!

For God’s Glory Alone,
Pastor Ray
