“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
In a world of serious unrest and uncertainty, the good news for Christians is that we have access to a kind of peace that surpasses all understanding. The Bible teaches that there are three crucial types of peace that every person needs and I want to share those with you today.
1) We need peace with God. Romans 5:1 says, "Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Without a right relationship with God, we are at war with Him. Thankfully, Jesus has bridged the divide, offering us a path to reconciliation and peace.
2) We need the peace of God, as Paul mentions in today’s passage. It is the antidote to the anxiety and worry that we battle. We access this kind of peace through prayer.
3) We need peace from God – the peace that comes directly from the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 1:3). This is the tranquility and wholeness that only God can provide. Despite the unrest we see around us, we can find true and lasting peace. But this peace is not found in political solutions or human efforts; it is only found in a personal relationship with the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.
When we have peace with God, the peace of God, and the peace from God, we can experience a profound sense of security, contentment, and hope, even in the darkest of times.
